Volunteers
Our volunteers are the reason we are so successful, we couldn't do it with out you!
If you would like to become more involved with any of our volunteer activities within the SIMDE program, please contact Kim Bonnerma (503-277-2303). We have year-round SIMDE needs for volunteers to help with all the behind the scene functions of the bands and dance/guard ensembles.
Parents, family and friends can all volunteer. Alumni are more than welcome to come back and help. And did you know that under some circumstances, current sibling students can even get Community Service Credit Hours for helping out? Track Your Hours!
Please, please, please keep track of all your volunteer hours.
The reported volunteer hours at Southridge is extremely low. Several volunteers have graciously given their time without documentation. The school district logs hours and sends them to the State Dept. of Education. This information is used in awarding grants and stipends for special projects. Please provide an estimate for all volunteer services ie chaperoning, pit crew, uniforms, meetings, fund raising projects and any work that has been done at home on behalf of the school, and send along with your name. If you have any questions about this, contact Southridge's volunteer coordinator, Pat Carley.
Also please track your volunteer hours with your employer. Many, including Intel and Nike, provide cash grants matching employee volunteer hours. We recently received $2,400 from Nike from parent(s) matching cash to donated volunteer hours! So check with your employer to see if they offer this benefit as well.
Thank you for your continued support. |
