I've completed all of my forms for the upcoming year. How do I turn them in if we are unable to meet in person yet?


Completed and signed forms can be mailed in with a check for fees. To turn in your forms and check by mail, please mail them to: SIMDE 14845 SW Murray Scholls Drive Suite 110 PMB 108 Beaverton, OR 97007 You may also elect to turn forms in by email. To do this, please scan them and email them to: secretary@simde.org. Please note that you will still need to either mail in a check for your fees or pay them via PayPal.




How do I pay my fees for Marching Band if we are unable to meet in person yet?


Marching Band fees can be sent in via check along with your registration forms. Please enclose them in the same envelope and mail them to: SIMDE 14845 SW Murray Scholls Drive Suite 110 PMB 108 Beaverton, OR 97007 Marching Band fees can also be paid to our PayPal account, however you will still need to either mail in or email us your completed forms. If you you would prefer to pay via PayPal, our PayPal email address is treasurer2@simde.org




Are you sure there will be a Marching Band season this fall? What if it gets cancelled mid-season? Will I get my money back?


Whereas it is possible things could unexpectedly change, at this time we are certain that Marching Band will move forward this fall with spectators in the stands and all plans are moving forward with a full, competitve season in mind. Should the unexpected happen, SIMDE will make any appropriate adjustments, monetary or otherwise, if needed. This occured when the 2020 Winter Percussion season was cut short at the outset of the pandemic.




Will there be concerts and performances this school year?


Yes! Our first concert of the year is our Winter Conert and Fundraiser on December 14th in the auditorium. All of our ensembles will be performing (Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Concert Band and Jazz Band).




Will there be a spring musical with Pit Orchestra this year?


Yes. Auditions for the spring musical, Mamma Mia! will be held in early December.




My student is unsure if they want to do Marching Band. What should I do?


Marching Band is an EXCELLENT way to get fully immersed in the SIMDE experience. Most students that elect for Marching Band say that the thing they love about it the most is the camaraderie and friendships that develop over the course of the season. This is an especially great way for incoming freshmen to meet their peers and develop lasting friendships that will carry through their entire high school experience. Advise your student to attend Rookie/Refresher Camp in August as a way for them to get a feel for what Marching Band is like.




What is the best way to know what is going on with the band program?


News and upcoming events will be listed on our website. You can also view the SIMDE calendar on our website. If you have specific questions, you can go to the Contacts page and reach out to our Band and Guard Directors, or any of our SIMDE board members. Lastly, your student will always be made aware of upcoming schedules, activities and rehearsals, so it's always a good idea to check in with them!

I'm not sure if I can afford the cost of having my student to do Marching Ensemble (band or Color Guard), Indoor Percussion or Winter Guard. What should I do?


We want all students that want to participate to be able to partcipate; SIMDE never turns away any student due to an inability to pay fees. If you have any concerns about the fees for your student(s) to participtae in any of these programs, please email Cameron Jerde, Director of Bands at cameron_jerde@beaverton.k12.or.us so we can ensure your student can still participate.




I am interested in joining the board and/or volunteering to help SIMDE. What should I do?


We need any and all help we can get and would love to talk to you about volunteer opportunities! You can reach out to Cameron Jerde, Director of bands at cameron_jerde@beaverton.k12.or.us or Eric French, SIMDE President at president@simde.org.




Will there be an Indoor Percussion season this year?


Yes! We are combing with Beaverton High School students and will be competing in the Indoor Percussion season. All practices will be held at Southridge High School. Please see the Registration Packet posted on the Forms | FAQ page on our website. You can also find all of the rehearsals and competitions listed on the SIMDE Calendar.




Will there be a Winter Guard season this year?


We are currently conducting Winter Guard "try-it-outs" through December 16th so students can get a feel for what the season will be like. If you are interested in checking out Winter Guard, please email Nick Garcia, Color Guard Director at dance_guard@simde.org.
